oh monday

Had a busy, busy end to the week.  Travel to the Bay for interviews, a lovely Father’s Day celebration at my Marin fav Terrapin Crossroads, complete with the entertainment of watching the Dead Heads come together for a Phil Lesh show, finally painting over the mint green color that has consumed our downstairs since we moved in, furniture delivery, furniture buying, lawn mowing, and getting back to basics with my favorite Sunday yoga class.

My favorite Sunday yoga class… my favorite yoga class.  75 minutes with the best teacher.  There are a number of them at CorePower, but in my opinion, Sarah is top dog.  She always inserts a little education at the start and you feel like you are dancing through the flow.  She is encouraging and the class is challenging.  Such a great way to end the weekend/start the week.   My own kind of church, you could say.

Here’s to no travel in the near future, and lots and lots of yoga.

Lost of crow pose yesterday. Just wish I looked this way when I did it.

I did this. I was the other way around, but I did this.

I did this. I was the other way around, but I did this.

After weeks of travel, there isn't much a crave more than feeling strong and flexible.

graduation gifts

With my Capstone presentation just 10 days away (ahhh!) and graduation 7 more, I’ve clearly removed my head from the books to focus on more important things.  Namely, my graduation gift… to me. What to gift me?

With so much free time I’m bound to wear down my old yoga mat.  Should I customize it with “MNPL”?

Won’t need to carry my books around anymore… new purse?

The theme is obviously extravagance, as I would never pay for a purse what those two cost.  So, going with it… a trip to Sparkling Hill Resort in Canada.  I’m going on two years I’ve wanted to see this place.  Graduation gift?

So, if you were me and you were feeling unnecessarily deserving of a splurge, what would you do?

The little engine that could

Imagemy post-30 commitment to practicing yoga has been struggling. I have to say, I may have gone a little far in the daily commitment (although it felt so good) and it’s been hard to stay on the game since. READ, impossible. My practice has devolved to almost nothing. Life sped up, moving, travel, and a budding relationship shifted my focus, and now, it’s mid May and time to recommit.

I wonder if this is how it will always be – periods of such sustained commitment, fall off, and then a re start. It would be nice for it to be a bit more consistent. I imagine that in my tendency to swing extremes, more manageable goals may help me. So, yoga three days a week is the goal. With some more time moving around on my mat at home.

1, 2, 3 go.
