oh monday

Had a busy, busy end to the week.  Travel to the Bay for interviews, a lovely Father’s Day celebration at my Marin fav Terrapin Crossroads, complete with the entertainment of watching the Dead Heads come together for a Phil Lesh show, finally painting over the mint green color that has consumed our downstairs since we moved in, furniture delivery, furniture buying, lawn mowing, and getting back to basics with my favorite Sunday yoga class.

My favorite Sunday yoga class… my favorite yoga class.  75 minutes with the best teacher.  There are a number of them at CorePower, but in my opinion, Sarah is top dog.  She always inserts a little education at the start and you feel like you are dancing through the flow.  She is encouraging and the class is challenging.  Such a great way to end the weekend/start the week.   My own kind of church, you could say.

Here’s to no travel in the near future, and lots and lots of yoga.

Lost of crow pose yesterday. Just wish I looked this way when I did it.

I did this. I was the other way around, but I did this.

I did this. I was the other way around, but I did this.

After weeks of travel, there isn't much a crave more than feeling strong and flexible.

Storming

Image

It is a wet and rainy one here today. I had, in my infinite smartness, left my rain boots and coat at work months ago. By the time I got to work this morning, I was drenched. I had to switch out my shoes and wear my hunters all over the hospital today, which is a funny look, let me tell you. It was definitely one of those mornings where you just want to make your tea, light a candle and stay in bed and read.

One thing I love about living on the East Coast is that it can be warm and raining. Bay area rain is wet and cold and gets into your bones. Here, it can be humid and warming.

My day has evolved into one of those #$%@^%@#$ where you just have to sit back and take many a deep breaths. Holy moly. I am so lucky to have found my way into a hospital social work position that involves little to no discharge planning. Most of the time. Today however, I am navigating this broke, insurance driven. crazy ass health care system. Fuuuuun. Bows and pranams to the folks out there that do this day in and day out.

January

It is really, truly winter here in Seattle.  My phone tells me it’s 28 degrees outside, and to Loki’s dismay I can’t yet confirm.  While I am certain the summertime will always be my favorite time, there are definitely some things I love about this season.

The first of these – lazy, guilt free mornings in bed.  I love staying in bed with my (Philz) coffee, reading or perusing the internet until I’m ready to climb out and face the day.  You just can’t do that when it’s nice out.  Or at least, I can’t.  Too antsy, too much regret.

I've been a bit obsessed with exposed brick lately - I love my bedroom, but this wouldn't be too bad.

“sick”

You know those mornings when you wake up and you wish you were sick because that would mean you could legitimately stay in bed all day?

And then you remember that if you were actually sick you’d feel like crap and you’d probably have obligations you’d have to go to anyway?

So there I am.  Feeling like crap, wishing I’d (by now) learned that taking Airborne actually works.  And today kicks off a very busy weekend.  Did I mention that next week gets even busier and then we leave for the Dominican Republic.  No, I’m not saying you should feel sorry for me with that last vacation part.  Just that if I don’t figure out a way to get healthy, I’m in big trouble.

So here we go: Vitamin C (yes, the chewables), Chicken Soup, and my stolen Kindle (thank you to the honey).
